Lucy Loves Ducky
8.5 x 8.5 inches
Watercolor and Sharpie Pen
Playing with toys is a sign of intelligence, and all of the higher order animals do it; elephants to whales to dogs and cats. The tendency for humans and animals to continue to play well into adulthood is both a learning activity as well as a stress reliever. My border collie Lucy thinks it is just plain fun.
I reallly love this... The pen cross-hatching, the bright colors of the duck against the neutral colors of the dog and background... Really well-done!
ReplyDeleteLots of playful energy here
ReplyDeleteI love Lucy's expression. Lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I like your black cross-hatching.
ReplyDeleteOn our new dog's first camping trip, he got of of the truck and went exploring. He came back with a duck just like this that someone had left. It was soooooo exciting for him!
My dogs live to play ball. We don't dare even say the word 'ball' unless we're prepared to back it up!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful drawing. Lucy must be a very sweet dog!
Really nice piece.
ReplyDeletefun, yes, for Lucy... but a bit nerve wracking for any ducks having a look~see in the window...
ReplyDeleteI like how the texture on Lucy melts into the background creating a nice lost edge.
Gives it some pull.
O cão parece já ter brincado com e agora está descansando um pouco antes de continuar, muito legal!
ReplyDeleteLovely watercolor and ink. I love dogs too and our living room looks like a doggie day care center. Our Viszla has a duck like this too.
ReplyDeleteNice blog! Thank you for commenting on my troll sketch.
very nice work. Lucy has a beautiful expression, as well as the duck! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove how Lucy's black and white contrasts with the bright colors of her toy duck. Her shiny also really eyes bring her to life. Great illustration!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely, I like the composition!! So cute and true-to-the-way-dogs-behave, how she is handeling the duck-toy! Beautiful dog and beautiful illo!!
ReplyDeleteAww. Nice piece! Looks like she's having fun.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We have the same toy for our doggies (we call him Mr. Quackers), and they hold him the same way. We have had to replace Mr. Quackers 9 times over the past several years because he keeps losing his stuffing somehow. Heh.
ReplyDeleteGreat perspective on this...like the media use and value setup!!! I love to see work that has a good sketchy feel to it!
ReplyDeletelooks very real.
ReplyDeleteI love the lines, you did a perfect work with the ink ♥
...and your dog looks adorable :)
I love the expresion in the dog! super!
