Early Morning Wake Up Call - 4am
This is Napoleon. He is our little Japanese Silkie rooster. A full moon is as good as sunshine for him and he takes his job as Reveille horn blower seriously. We often hear him sounding the wake up call as early as three or four in the morning. Needless to say we have learned how to sleep with pillows over our heads.
great! i had the same idea ;-)
ReplyDeletevery good illustration of the morning light.
Now, that's one rooster who's seriously doing his job! Good thing he's not a cat, otherwise someone would've thrown a shoe at him, heheh. Well, I think this is fantastic! I especially love the textures and the lights...the clouds look amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Sally! The first thing I thought of for "early" was a rooster. I didn't think I could come up with a decent bird quick enough so I went into a different direction... but you really pulled it off. This is splendid! You have a terrific style... also love your fig leaf project... funny stuff :o)
ReplyDeleteI guess I won't raise chickens! I like the texture in this piece, and the fig leaf posting too. Thanks for leaving a comment on my page!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a stout rooster. Very bold! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful drawing, I love the colors and the lights and darks. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your art is beautiful! LOVE the clouds in the background :-)
ReplyDeleteI could skip the 3AM crowing, but he is such a handsome bird you got to give him some allowances
ReplyDeleteAwww... that Napoleon... he's a rooster who loves his job and takes his responsibility seriously. He's got a great work ethic!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you get the same wake up call as me in the morning:) great illo.
ReplyDeleteAwesome rooster...funny how some things just yearn to be drew...well played..
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Love the way you've painted the moonlight...very nice!
ReplyDeleteI love the detail in the feathers and the hazy feel of the morning sky.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful how you have bought Napolean to life in this (The French will be happy). But seriously, the use of line work especially in the stile really gives it a decorative quality
ReplyDeleteGreat colours - it really does feel like an early morning - way too early to get up! ;) Very interesting combination of media and texture.
ReplyDeleteNice illustration ! I like the inking especially.
